Did you know that, globally, 69% of small business owners find it difficult to source reliable office supplies, especially printers? The wrong printer can be detrimental to your small business operations. Just ask the small business owners who rely on printers to carry on business operations or the businesses that cannot operate without a printer for their day-to-day services. In fact, 52% of small business owners across the globe wish companies who sell printers better understood the challenges they face.

The decision of what printer to get for your small business is often one that owners make in haste. At the moment, this can seem like a good idea. However, it’s a short-term solution to a long-term issue. Hastily purchasing a consumer-grade printer and overworking it will cause the printer to fail, forcing your small business to fill those gaps with other reactive purchases. These printers can also pose an online security issue, as more than half of internet-connected printers are unsecured.

How do you know which printer is best for your business? A good place to start is looking at what kind of work your printer will be doing for your business. An ink printer may possibly be better for a business that isn’t doing a lot of printing on a daily basis, which means less money will be spent on ink cartridges. Ink printers do have their cons, such as businesses spending over $12,000 per gallon of ink. Printers waste 20-50% of these ink cartridges on cleaning and maintenance, with less than 50% of the cartridges themselves being reused later on. Most ink printers also won’t print at all if either the black or color cartridge is low, which can put your business in a bind when you need it to work most.

Here comes the solution: a durable laser printer. Cost effective, these printer cartridges only cost $0.075 for ink and $0.05 for toner, saving your business money that can be used for other projects you may need. Along with the low cost, the ink will never dry out, expire, or smudge! Most laser printers come with their own cartridge recycling program as well. They print 2-3 times faster than ink printers, automatically on both sides of the paper, helping you get back to your more important services quicker. They are super sturdy, constructed with a steel frame, and small enough to be moved from location to location. You can password-protect a laser printer, which also automatically reboots if and when it detects a security issue. Add as many employees as you need to your own “printer network” to make your small business a smart business.

Don’t let a bad printer slow down your small business. Modern business owners are looking to replace dated legacy printers with solutions of the future, and laser printers provide just that for your small business. Make an informed decision and choose the best small business printer that can perform tasks other than printing to help your small business run as smoothly as possible.
